Automatic program selection
Changes the programs automatically from one listening environment to another. When you are in quiet conversation, the instrument allows you to hear from all directions, 360 degrees, and it increases the soft level volume so voices are clearer and easier to distinguish.

Automatic Directional Microphones
When you are in a noisy environment (like a restaurant) the two microphones work together. The back microphone automatically turns the noise down from behind and the timing of when the sound reaches the front microphone is altered. This creates a directional sound field in the front to make it easier to hear and understand speech.

Feedback Cancellation Feedback
(The whistling) is caused when the amplified sound of the hearing aid leaks out of the ear and makes its way back to the microphones and causes the signal or sound to be amplified again.

This is where feedback cancellation technology has improved significantly. This technology introduces an opposite sound wave from the feedback wave, which cancels the wave completely and removes the feedback. Because of this technology, today’s hearing aids can amplify high frequency speech sounds much better, which causes speech to be clearer.

Noise Cancellation
Because noise is a continuous sound, steady state, and speech is a fluctuating sound, peaks and valleys, the hearing instruments programming algorithm can distinguish speech waves from noise bands. When a continuous noise is present, the hearing instrument’s program algorithm introduces an opposite noise band, which reduces that noise down to a lower level so that the noise does not override the speech.

Sound Recovery
Sound Recovery is unique to the Audeo YES model. Sound recovery is a speech enhancement protocol. Most hearing losses are high frequency in nature, which is where speech cues are located. Sound recovery targets these high frequency speech cues and compresses them in a more beneficial region of the speech spectrum, which makes speech clearer and easier to understand.
